Autometer Gauges?? Questions about product line an

OK peeps..I want to get a dual or triple A-pillar pod (2 1/16") and a couple of gauges and install them when I toss in the ZC (if the F-ing parts ever show up) rolleyes

My tach is a 2.5" Sunpro Mini-Tach (regular old black face with white numbers) and I think it will fit in these pods.

What autometer gauges do I want to order that are the same boring black face/white numbers that would most closely match what I have now? I want an oil pressure gauge and I think a volt-meter. I am not turboing my ZC nor doing any fancy tinkering so I don't think I need A/F ratio, and other weird stuff. I might get a water temp gauge instead of voltage..so I'll have tach, oil, water up the pillar.

Next question. Do I want mechanical gauges or the electric? I had mechanical oil pressure and water temp gauges in my '78 Civic but bleeding the air from the oil tube was kinda messy...what is the difference in the sender unit that comes with electric gauges?? I noticed that on some product lines the electric were $10-12 more expensive, but that is not the issue...if the elec. are that much better and easier to deal with (not running oil and antifreeze lines thru the firewall) than I am all for it.
Their website is a little ambiguous, cuz they want to sell me carbon-fiber 5" future-glow monster tachs for a Camaro or Mustang I don't own....if someone has some specific links to help out with to the products I am interested in that would help too.

I would personally run the electrical guages. Much less hassle and mess. smile

I don't think the 2.5 inch tach is going to fit in there. It was a squeeze to fit the 2 1/16" guages in the pod. They are good quality products and I am very happy with mine. I purchased mine from the autometer vendor at the IDRC race last October in Maple Grove so I can't really help you with the website. frown

And be careful most places I have seen have been sold out of the guage pods for our cars.

hey dude thanks....Um..the bezel diameter is 2.5" so the actual width of the gauge is less, but I am too lazy to go out and measure it tonight. If it doesn't fit, I may have to dump my $35 tach and go with an autometer tach as well...but this little tach has served me well. So..if that is the case, I think I'd want a 2 5/8" tach on the pillar down low, and then two smaller 2 1/8" gauges for water and oil- heh heh... biggrin

Did you get the pillar pods at the show too? Nopi has them listed but I haven't ordered them to see availability. Did you paint yours to match your interior? My pillars are light grey, and it seems the pods only come in black.

I got my pod from nopi too...Only place that had them in stock. smile

I used a primer to paint mine. It matches the grey of the headliner almost perfectly. I was amazed at how close the colors are. biggrin

i think that the tach will fit. i believe that travis got his tach and dual pillar pod to fit. his is bigger than yours also.

if your getting oil and volt then go with elctrical. i assume that volt only comes in electical and oil would be cleaner and safer. can you picture your self driving down the road and oil spewing out of your new pillar pods all over your interior. that would suck.
